Thank you so much for such a lovely (and detailed) review! Perceptive, too -- I wasn't sure if anyone would notice the Gwen/Gwyneth connection I was hinting at. Great to know that you did! I can't help but think that it must be more than coincidence -- same actress, very similar name, same place, Gwen already beginning to show the same kind of talent as Gwyneth in The Unquiet Dead. Granted, they're seperated by over a century, but hey -- details, schmetails...
I really enjoyed exploring a more vulnerable, caring side of Jack too: he hides his emotions nearly as well as Ianto most of the time, and I was interested in showing that he can care for people -- even post-death -- but that, in turn, that can be a weakness.
As for Tosh's girlcrush... what can I say? I love Tosh.
